PART-TIME SENIOR SPORTS LEAD, MLSE LAUNCHPAD

Position Overview

MLSE LaunchPad is seeking energetic and dedicated part-time staff that have a passion for working in community sport programs. The candidates will act as sport coaches, clinicians and instructors under the guidance of the Coordinator, Sport Programming. The first wave of coaches will begin the week of February 13, 2017.

The Sport Program team will create and facilitate the delivery of safe, age appropriate and sport specific programs within MLSE LaunchPad. Sport Program staff are knowledgeable in physical activity programs, camp activities, small sided-games and working with diverse youth populations. Sport Program Leads must also have experience supervising/leading a staff team, developing program plans and monitoring program outcomes.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with the design, implementation, and evaluation of a sport program schedule that includes age appropriate activities for program participants that include all elements of MLSE LaunchPad Core Programming standards 
  • Program plan and schedule sport programs/events to meet the needs of partner organizations while aligning outcomes with LTAD strategies and basic fundamental movement skills 
  • Deliver Sport For Development programming for children and youth through coaching, instruction and facilitation 
  • Ensure general program readiness including equipment lists, lesson plans, games and activities for a range of abilities 
  • Instruct sport programs based on the specific sport and life skills objectives of MLSE LaunchPad programs 
  • Communicate effectively with the Coordinator of Sport Programming regarding program needs and improvements
  • Responsible for checking that any equipment or facilities used to help facilitate the delivery of the program plan are safe, in good working order, and free of risk
