MEMBERSHIP OVERVIEW
The MLSE Foundation and MLSE LaunchPad Research & Evaluation Team (R&E) is seeking passionate and knowledgeable individuals to join the Research Advisory Committee (RAC) for the upcoming member intake. The membership cycle will begin in May with a two-year membership term, aligning with the end of our fiscal year.
TO APPLY
Potential members must demonstrate expertise and passion in one or more of the following areas:
- Data visualization methodologies and technologies
- Community impact of sport infrastructure development
- Youth life skill development, including self-esteem, social competence, physical literacy, grit/resilience, critical thinking, self-regulation, and/or leadership
- Measuring impact of complex and systems-level interventions
- Program quality assessment and assurance
- Best practices in corporate social responsibility
Additional strengths that will support your application include experience in:
- Sport for development approaches addressing youth well-being, education, and employment
- Impact assessment and reporting methodologies with youth ages 6-29, including self-report and observation
- Safeguarding sport culture and environments for youth

What is the Research Advisory Committee?
The Research Advisory Committee (RAC) connects MLSE Foundation’s Research and Evaluation Team with academics and subject matter experts to foster collaboration, feedback, and shared insights on its three core objectives - promoting knowledge mobilization of research findings, driving innovation in youth Sport for Development (SFD) research, and ensuring ethical considerations across research initiatives. Together, these efforts aim to strengthen MLSE LaunchPad’s expertise in the youth SFD sector, empowering young people to reach their full potential through the intentional use of sports and physical activity.

Who can be part of the Research Advisory Committee?
The RAC is composed of 5-8 diverse members who bring expertise from academia, professional sectors, and community organizations. Each member is responsible for contributing to the committee’s overall purpose and objectives, ensuring that MLSE Foundation’s and MLSE LaunchPad’s research initiatives are impactful, innovative, and ethically sound.

What can you expect as a member of the Research Advisory Committee?
Members of the RAC are expected participate in four meetings per year, partake in opportunities for voluntary involvement in research initiatives and commit to an advisory role (i.e., staying informed about research developments in our sector, keeping up to date with best-practice ethics, sharing expertise, etc.).

How does the Research Advisory Committee recruitment process work?
The RAC will consist of approximately 5-8 members, with flexibility for 1-2 additional members when needed. The RAC will undergo a yearly review to assess membership needs and performance. The membership cycle will begin in May with a two-year membership term, aligning with the end of our fiscal year. The recruitment process will be managed by the Research & Evaluation Team with an intake in the Spring for interested parties who meet the qualifications.
